The story of Atlantik began in 1978, when we opened as one of Iceland’s earliest licensed travel agencies and tour operators.

Our Story

Atlantik was founded in 1978 by Mr. Böðvar Valgeirsson and his family, making us one of Iceland’s first licensed travel agencies and tour operators. From the very beginning, we focused on the cruise market, building a reputation for exceptional shore-excursions and unrivalled local knowledge.

In 1999, the company passed into the hands of Mr. Gunnar Rafn Birgisson and family. A change that marked a new chapter of growth. We expanded our services to include MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events) and bespoke travel programs, while continuing to provide world-class cruise services across Iceland. Today, Atlantik stands as one of the most established tourism companies in the country, respected for deep expertise in both CRUISE and MICE.

As a family-owned, independent Destination Management Company with more than four decades of experience, we pride ourselves on delivering personalised, high-quality service. Through meticulous planning, deep local insight, extensive industry network and a dedicated team of travel professionals and certified guides.
